The Oakland Tech PTSA will be holding our annual fundraising event — and our first virtual gala! — "Mask-erade" on Saturday, March 13, 2021, to bring our community together and raise much-needed funds for our school during this unprecedented time. The Virtual Gala will be preceded by an Online Auction starting on Saturday, March 6, and ending on Saturday, March 13.

What Can You Do To Help?

We are currently seeking the following in support of the auction:

1) Make a Donation
This year we are asking parents to make one or both kinds of donations to the auction:

Donate a Gift Card From a Local Restaurant or Business: This year we are significantly limited our soliciting of donations from businesses that have been especially hurting during the pandemic. Instead, we ask PARENTS to please show your community spirit by purchasing gift cards from your favorite local restaurants and shops, and donating them to the OT auction. We've created a list of small businesses that have supported our auction in the past plus Black-owned businesses in Oakland, but feel free to support ANY local business.

Make a Donation of Your Own: Can you donate a service or item from your own business? Do you own a cabin near the coast or in the mountains that can be offered for a multi-day vacation? Can your teen donate pet-sitting or contactless dog-walking services?

2) Host a 'Pandemic-Flexible' Party
Parent-hosted parties have always been an important part of the auction catalog and because so many of us miss seeing each other, we'd like to encourage parents to think creatively about how they might hold gatherings safely. In general, we are looking for two types of parties:

• Online/Virtual: Any kind of activity that can be held over a virtual meeting platform (Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc.); these may involve delivery of supplies or party kits to guests beforehand.
• Outdoors: These gatherings should be small enough so that people can safely socially distance outdoors.

3) Share Photos & Videos of the School Year
The auction team is requesting photos and short videos (no more than 15 seconds) from students and teachers that illustrate some aspect of the 2020-21 school year while learning or teaching from home. It can reflect a single moment or a broader experience. It can be related to school, club, sports, or a community project. It can be ANYTHING — selfie, screenshot, journalistic, funny, artistic, and/or musical — and parental assistance is welcome, too.

Videos may be shortened by the auction team due to length. The finished video will air at the Virtual Auction Gala on March 13. THANK YOU for your participation!
